Renault XBA hatchback spied, looks huge for a low-cost small car
Renault XBA is one of the highly anticipated entry-level cars for launch in 2015. The low-cost car will rival popular A-segemnt cars like Maruti Alto K10 and Hyundai Eon 1.0 Kappa, and could push Datsun Go hatchback to extinction.
Latest spy shots of Renault XBA hatchback reveals that it wears single-pot halogen headlamps, single wiper & washer for front windshield, last-decade rear-view mirrors and economical Ceat tyres shoed on three-lug steel wheels.
Codename XBA is based on Renault-Nissan Alliance’s new versatile platform, CMFA (Common Module Family – Affordable), that could underpin upcoming Nissan Micra’s replacement set to launch in India in 2016. Another car based on CMFA platform is Datsun redi-Go (codename I2), concept form of which was unveiled at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.
Both cars are being conceived at RNTBCI (Renault Nissan Technology Business Centre India), will be manufactured locally and are eventually going to end up rivalling with each other on Indian soil. Renault XBA and Datsun redi-Go are both sub-Rs. 4 lakh products, set for launch in the sub-continent this year. Former would start production in Chennai by end of 2015, while latter is believed to launch in May.
