Revolt Motors, an India startup and a brand which has been founded by Micromax CEO Rahul Sharma, have officially unveiled the first electric motorcycle, Revolt RV 400 in the country. The electric motorcycle has been unveiled initially in Delhi with sales to extend to other cities across the country in due course (next few months).

Deliveries will get underway in July 2019. This bike is being produced at the company plant in Manesar, which has capacity of 1.2 lakh units of electric motorcycles in first phase.

Revolt RV 400 electric motorcycle sees many firsts. Not only is it the first electric motorcycle (to launch for real) in the country, it is the country’s first AI enabled motorcycle, which is made possible through its association with multiple tech partners.

It is compatible with a mobile app allowing the user to select an exhaust note for the bike, among other features. The sound for the exhaust varies from a high strung single cylinder engine sound to a deeper exhaust sound that emits from a four cylinder motorcycle. The App will be powered by an LTE enabled 4G SIM with Over the Air updates.

The new Revolt electric motorcycle comes in with ARAI certified range of 156 kms and restricted top speed of 85 kmph. It receives swappable batteries while mechanics include inverted fork, rear monoshock and braking via disc brakes at the front and rear. Revolt claims that the AI features will allow the battery performance to be optimized according to each individual’s riding style.

ECU and Battery Management System will be locally produced, while batteries is imported. Chassis and body has been developed in association with Super Soco, a Chinese electric vehicle company. The new electric motorcycle will come in with over 75 percent localization which will certify it for FAME II subsidy. The company is also setting up dedicated charging stations.

Revolt RV 400 features LED lights, a digital console, and 4G connectivity among other things. In terms of competition, the new Revolt electric motorcycle will compete with a new roost of electric bikes of which most are yet to be launched.
