Royal Enfield 650 Twins 1st full month sales at 629 units

The two new Royal Enfield 650 twins, have become the best selling twin cylinder motorcycles in India. In Nov 2018, when they were launched, the duo registered sales of 325 units. But in Dec 2018, which was also the 1st full month of sales of the duo, sales have almost doubled.

Together, Royal Enfield Continental 650 and Interceptor 650 have managed to register sales of 629 units in Dec 2018, reveals Auto Punditz. With bookings pouring in aplenty, some company dealers are quoting the month of April for deliveries, as the motorcycles are sold out till March 2019.

Speaking about the two motorcycles, Continental GT 650 is based on the original Continental GT 250. It represents the British cafe racing scene of the 50s and 60s. On the other hand, Interceptor 650 is based on the iconic 60’s Royal Enfield Interceptor and it represents the sun-soaked California beach lifestyle.

In terms of dimensions and engine lineups, the two bikes share the same specifications. They also receive common chassis, brakes and wheels. The RE 650 Twins sit on a 2,122mm x 1,165mm x 789mm chassis and get wheelbase of 1,400mm along with ground clearance of 174mm.

Both the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 ride on 18” spoked wheels fitted with Pirelli Phantom Sportcomp tyres 100/90 R18 front and 130/90 R18 rear. Both the bikes get 41mm front forks and 110 travel with twin coil over pre load adjustment socks with 88mm at the rear. Fuel tank capacities stand at 13.4 liters on the Interceptor 650 and at 12.5 liters on the Continental GT. Braking is via 320mm front and 240mm rear dual disc brakes. The bikes get Anti-lock Braking System as a standard feature.

Prices range from Rs.2.89 lakhs for the Interceptor 650 which is offered in two tone color schemes of Baker Express (white and red) and Ravishing Red (red and black) while top of the line Glitter and Dust is priced at Rs.3.10 lakhs as it involves an expensive chrome finish.

Continental GT 650 carries a price tag of Rs. 2.75 lakhs for the metallic colors of Black Magic and Ventura Blue. Dr Mayhem (grey and black) and Ice Queen (white and gray) are priced at Rs.3.13 lakhs.
