Royal Enfield Classic 350 Redditch Series arrives at dealerships

The Royal Enfield Classic 350 has been soldiering on without any significant mechanical changes since its introduction but has received a handful of special edition treatments and several new color options. The most recent new color introduction took place in January this year.

With 2017 here, Royal Enfield has announced the launch of yet another range of exciting new colour options with the Classic 350, called Redditch.

Why Redditch

Royal Enfield Redditch series is available in three colour options – Red, Green and Blue. The Redditch series is inspired by the 50s-era Royal Enfield motorcycles that were produced in Redditch, UK – the birthplace of Royal Enfield motorcycles.

Apart from the new colous from the 1950’s, the 2017 Redditch series will feature the Royal Enfield Redditch monogram, first used in 1939 on the prototype of 125cc ‘Royal Baby’, a 2-stroke motorcycle. How important is the Classic 350

The Royal Enfield Classic 350 entered the scene in 2008 to pull the two-wheeler maker out of a sales nosedive. Since then, the Classic 350 established itself as a cash cow for the company, registering a steady increase in volumes every fiscal. Today, the Classic 350 is the best selling Royal Enfield motorcycle.

In FY2015-16, the Classic 350 managed to clock an impressive volume of 276,853 units which represents a growth of 76% compared to the FY2014-15 figure of 157,531 units. To put the model’s important in a different context, about 55% of Royal Enfield’s FY2015-16 sales came from the Classic 350. The retro classic motorcycle also entered the top 10 highest selling motorcycles (scooters not included) of India at 9th place.

There is no change in the mechanics. The bike continues to be powered by a 346 cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine which dishes out 19.8 bhp @ 5250 rpm and 28 Nm @ 4000 rpm of torque. Transmission is a 5-speed unit.

The motorcycle will be available at an on-road price of Rs 1,46,093 in Delhi, Rs 1,57,577 in Mumbai, Rs 1,47,831 in Chennai, Rs 1,55,456 in Bengaluru and Rs 1,49,340 in Hyderabad.
