Want to install a 1 liter V-Twin engine in your Royal Enfield – Here’s how

The motor can be retro-fitted on select RE models.

Carberry Motorcycles, specialist in building high capacity twin-cylinder engines for Royal Enfield motorcycles, has launched its latest 1.0 litre V-Twin engine at INR 4.96 lakhs. The outfit which was founded in Australia shifted its base to Durg district in Chhattisgarh recently.

The engine in question will be built in India and the company is working towards launching completely built motorcycles towards the end of this year. The 1,000 cc air-cooled V-Twin motor is tuned to dish out 56.32 bhp at 4,800 rpm and a punchy torque of 108 Nm at 5,250 rpm. The motor is mated to a 5-speed transmission by means of a 7-plate clutch. The powerplant has an engine oil capacity of 3.7 litres.

A heavy crankshaft, hydraulic lifters, big end roller bearing, heavy duty starter motor and strengthened primary chain are the salient features of the powertrain. The pricing includes the motor and gearbox but not the exhaust system since it depends on the frame type.

Customers are required to pay 50% deposit to place an order for the engine. It’s to be noted that the engine is not road-legal in India yet but the company is working with ARAI for the required certifications. Carberry will also export the engines and motorcycles.

The 1,000 cc motorcycles by Carberry will target customers who are looking for custom built RE thumpers with significantly higher capability.
