Royal Enfield has already begun exporting the new Himalayan to developed nations like the UK and the US. In the UK, the Indian brand has now launched the most advanced Himalayan till date. RE Himalayan in the UK is equipped with Fuel Injection (FI) as well as Anti-lock Brake System (ABS). Price in the UK starts from £9,999 (INR 8.2 lakh).
Royal Enfield Himalayan with ABS and FI is expected to be launched in India next. Launch in other markets will take place later over the next few months in phase manner.
In developed nations, where emission norms are stricter than those in India, it is mandatory for Royal Enfield to offer Himalayan with Fuel Injection, instead of carburettor as is seen on the India-spec model. Even in North America, Royal Enfield Himalayan will be launched with ABS as well as FI.
Named after the mighty Himalayas of India, Royal Enfield Himalayan features a relaxed seating postion, which proves to be a boon on long rides, especially the one’s with bad raods. Long suspension travel with off-road tyres give the bike a very rugged appeal. Instrument panel consists of analog as well as digital meters. Powered by a new 410 cc single cylinder engine, Royal Enfield Himalayan is an entry level adventure tourer. The engine is rated to deliver 25 PS and 32 Nm torque via a 5-speed gearbox.
Hardly a little over two months since the bike was launched in India, Himalayan was in the news recently due to a silent recall, which the company likes to call – Proactive Service Update. This was done after many consumers complained of loud engine noise, hard gear shifts, bike not starting, and so on. It is hoped that with the updated Himalayan, Royal Enfield has managed to fixed these issues for good.
