The much awaited Royal Enfield Himalayan motorcycle will be launched in India on the 2nd February 2016, a day before 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, one of the largest automotive show in South-East Asia. This will be a global launch, which will be hosted by none other than Mr Siddhartha Lal, MD & CEO Eicher Motors Limited.
Royal Enfield Himalayan is a completely new bike. It is built on a new chassis, and is powered by a new 410 cc single cylinder air-cooled engine. This new engine is expected to deliver 28 PS and 32 Nm via 5 speed gearbox. The chassis has been designed by UK’s Harris Performance Parts, a subsidiary of Royal Enfield who also built Continental GT’s chassis, the last new launch from RE.
Build to perform as an off-road tourer, Himalayan is also the first RE to feature a rear mono-shock suspension. Recently, a fully accessorized Royal Enfield Himalayan was spied, which can be seen in the image above. Spy shots show that Himalayan gets a comfortable scooped seat for the rider, while pillion is seated a bit higher. Handle bar and seats are designed in such a way to provide an upright riding position, making long rides comfortable.
