A couple of spy shots of the Royal Enfield Himalayan with accessories have emerged online, giving us a fair idea about the adventure tourer’s personalization options. The upcoming motorcycle is based on a new platform and will debut a new 410 cc engine which would eventually power more Royal Enfield motorcycles.
The first test mule is accessorized with a windscreen, fuel tank and engine guards, lockable metallic panniers and a rear luggage rack. The second prototype misses out on the windscreen and gets fabric panniers in place of metallic units. We expect the upcoming Royal Enfield to offer a wide range of accessories to suit the requirements of touring enthusiasts.
The new exposed frame is developed by Harris Performance (Royal Enfield’s UK subsidiary). The 410 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor is said to be having 28 PS and 32 Nm of torque. The gearbox is expected to be a 5-speed unit.
The Himalayan’s instrument console includes a compass and digital altimeter in addition to the usual dials. Design highlights include a new fuel tank, split seats and a small LED taillight.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is expected to be launched in early 2016 with an on-road price just undercutting INR 2 lakh mark. The adventure tourer would play a crucial role in the company’s growth in international markets.
