Warranty is lately used as a tool to keep customers on a tight leash with the authorised dealerships. Most of dealerships (cars and motorcycles) are forcing extended warranty down the customers’ throats to keep their vehicles coming back to them for servicing, and for that extra figure on the cheque. While some of that is understandable, it is nice to see the manufacturer extending the default warranty scheme to longer period / mileage.
Royal Enfield has extended original warranty from 1 year to 2 years (20,000 km), as they never offered paid warranty extension and they aren’t introducing it now. If one asks why Royal Enfield must be appreciated for this gesture, he would hear that RE bikes are not new to a lot of inherent niggling issues and this longer warranty would help a prospective customer stick to the brand.
Royal Enfield India currently sells Bullet 500, Bullet Electra, Bullet 350, Classic 500, Classic 350, Classic Desert Storm, Classic Chrome, Classic Battle Green, Thunderbird 500, Thunderbird 350 and Continental GT.
