A leaked document has revealed that Royal Enfield in set to bring in a lower spec model of the Thunderbird 350. Royal Enfield is going through its worst period, as far as monthly sales are concerned.
Aug 2019 sales report revealed that the sales of Bullet 350 has grown. This was probably due to the launch of Bullet X 350, a cheaper variant of Bullet 350. Seeing this, Royal Enfield has launched Classic 350 S, a cheaper variant of Classic 350; and are now getting ready to launch Thunderbird 350 S, a cheaper variant of TB 350.
Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 lower spec variant will get some changes over its top spec model. It will come in with new paint options, and less inclusion of chrome bits with blacked out wheel walls, blinker mounts and engine covers. Visual updates show off single channel ABS and drum brake at the rear.
The dual channel Thunderbird 350 is currently on sale and retails for Rs. 1,56,658 while this lower spec model could be priced more affordably. This was also seen on the RE Classic 350 which with single channel ABS saw a price reduction of around Rs.9,000 over its dual channel ABS counterpart.
Engine specifications on the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 cheaper variant will include a 346cc, single cylinder, air cooled, twin spark engine offering 19.8 bhp power at 5,250 rpm and 28 Nm torque at 4,000 rpm mated to a 5 speed gearbox. It gets telescopic fork in the front and twin sided gas charged springs at the rear.
Alongside this cheaper variant of the Thunderbird 350, Royal Enfield is also readying the 2020 Thunderbird 350 which is said to be in an advanced stage of validation process. The model on test sported a tall windscreen, black finished leg guard, chrome saddle bag supports and saree guards as is a mandatory feature on bikes on sale in India.
It also gets chrome accents on handlebars and alloy wheels. Other features noted include a circular tail lamp, revised seating and a shorter mud guard along with low mounted turn indicators and a single pod instrument console with both analog and digital readouts.
New gen Thunderbird 350 will be based on a new lighter, and more rigid chassis. This will allow for better riding dynamics. In addition to this, the new BS6 engine will delivery a more refined performance. Expect launch to take place by Feb 2020. Prices will be slightly higher than current TB350 BS4.
