India’s very own Mahindra and Mahindra launched their new mini SUV, called Quanto at a starting price of Rs 5.82 lakhs. Mahindra Quanto comes with a tag, Live the Weekend Life, which is somewhat similar to what Mercedes Benz promoted their new B Class, that was launched two days back at a price of Rs 21.49 lacs. Mahindra’s new SUV, Quanto is a small, compact and attractively priced SUV, which is set to catch the attention of car buyers who would otherwise have opted for an entry level sedan or a diesel hatchback. Being in a sub 4 meter category, the vehicle has the advantages of a lower taxes which is why it is so competitively priced. Mahindra says the Quanto will offer a mileage of 17.21 kmpl. Quanto is available across all Mahindra dealerships in India from today.
The Quanto is powered by a 3 cylinder 1.5 liter diesel mHawk engine generating 100 bhp power with 240 Nm torque. Transmission is taken care by a 5 speed manual gearbox. Based on Xylo platform, Quanto resembles Xylo on all fronts. It possesses a spare tyre on its rear door while a number of interior designs and accessories are also borrowed from Xylo. Comfortably seating for 5+2, Quanto has two butterfly seats in its boot area which can be folded up in case additional luggage space is required.
Mahindra has launched the new Quanto in four variants, C2 (base), C4, C6 and C8 (top). Airbags will be found in the top variant only (driver + co-passenger). Front wheels have disc brakes while rear one’s have drum. Tires are tubeless 205/65R 15. ABS is offered in C6 and C8. Other safety features include child lock, fog lamps, reverse park assist, rear wiper, and digital immobilizer. As far as comfort features of the new Quanto are concerned, it has overhead glove compartment, music system, power steering, central locking, driver’s seat height adjustment. Mahindra Quanto will be offered in six color choices, Fiery Black, Java Brown, Mist Silver, Toreador Red, Rocky Beige, and Diamond White. Mahindra says Quanto will compete with Maruti Ertiga, and Renault Duster in the SUV segment. In the sedan segment, Quanto will compete with Maruti Suzuki DZire.
