Sachin Tendulkar was the chief guest at the launch of BMW i8 in India last year. And today, he is the proud owner of one such exclusive car.
Sachin Tendulkar has given a new paint job to his BMW i8, making his latest electric sportscar even more unique. The car was initially in the company’s White Pearl colour, and now it adorns Protonic Red paint with custom Anthracite HRE alloys and wider tyres.
In a new video from Autocar India, Sachin Tendulkar talks about the power, performance, polish and pure pleasure of being behind the wheel of the new BMW i8. Tendulkar speaks of his passion for both cricket and cars and how, though he is particular about all his cars, is highly excited about this particular new acquisition, the BMW i8.
Specifically speaking about the BMW i8, Tendulkar prefers to drive it on the open road in the early hours of the day when he is not bothered by other traffic and people wanting to come up and even touch the car. He and Mr Sorabjee take the hybrid supercar for a spin from the master blaster’s residence in Bandra to Bandra-Worli Sea Link. Below is the video.
At the onset, Tendulkar selects eDrive – full electric mode as he cruises in the early morning traffic while at the Bandra-Worli Sea Link he switches into Sport mode.
Tendulkar and Sorabjee discuss the BMW i8 power and performance, the joy of handling such a vehicle and power delivery which is instantaneous. Sachin also regales the placement of the battery and low center of gravity while he is excited about the quick response of the BMW i8.
Though he loves cars and is passionate about its upkeep, Sachin is also a cautious driver giving 100 percent when driving. He finds the BMW i8 the best handling car he has driven and is not just saying so because he is the BMW ambassador but because he genuinely means it.
