It is now confirmed that the GM India will be bring in this vehicle with the name ‘Sail’, without any suffix, as previously expected. Sail will be introduced without any styling cues at the front, while rear end will be kept simple and similar to that seen on the Chinese version.
Closely following its Sail U-VA counterpart, the upcoming sedan will not be sub 4m in length though it will sport the same 1.3 liter XSDE diesel engine and 1.2 liter petrol engines as seen on Sail U-VA. Interiors of the upcoming Sail sport a dual tone beige and brown dashboard. Leg and head room are ample while steering wheel does not sport any audio control even at the top end LT model. Rear seats are angled adding to comfort. Storage space is at a premium in the new Sail. Under seat storage at the rear ensures that the Sail accomodates ample luggage.
Sail will be offered in a total of 6 variants which will include LS, LS ABS and LT ABS in both petrol and diesel form. Once launched, the Sail will compete with Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Toyota Etios, Mahindra Verito and Tata Manza. Pricing is expected in the Rs.5.7 lakhs to Rs.7 lakhs ex-showroom.
