Scania Commercial Vehicles India Private Limited, leading commercial vehicles and engines manufacturer, showcased a sustainable transport solution with their new Green Bus. This bus is run on Ethanol, which is manufactured using local waste materials.
At the unveil, Mr. Anders Grundströmer, Managing Director, Scania India and Senior Vice President, Scania Group were in attendance. Chief Guest at the event was Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Union Minister of Road Transport, Highways & Shipping. Mr Gadkari felicitated Shri Praveen Datke Hon’ble Mayor of Nagpur and Shri Sudhir Raut, Chairman Transport Committee, Nagpur Municipal Corporation for their vision to make Nagpur a green city of the future.

The International Conference & Exhibition on Public Transport Innovation draws attention to the urgent need for alternate fuels and an advanced public transport system all across the country. Topics discussed at the event revolved around “Sustainable Public Road Transport – Challenges & Future Road Map”, “Smart Vehicle Technologies & Alternate Fuels” and “Future of Bus Industry in India”. Along with top level management officials from Scania, High ranked government officials, industrialists, and media personnel were also part of the discussion.
Discussions were also held on de-carbonizing public transport in India while special emphasis will be on “here and Now” solutions to enhance mobility across the country.

On display was India’s first bio ethanol run Green Bus, while the Intercity MetroLink Bus will also be displayed which is being used by a number of State Transport Corporations. Scania, leaders in sustainable transport solutions for over 20 years, with operations in Europe, Latin America, South East Asia, Middle East and Asia are also in the process of setting up a bio CNG plant in Nagpur India.
