TVS Akula 310 production-ready bike to be unveiled by Q4 2016

The snazzy TVS Akula 310 fully faired sportsbike concept which made its world premiere at the 2016 Auto Expo earlier this year managed to garner a very encouraging response from the public. Rushlane has learnt that the company is planning to advance the launch of production model by a few months to take full advantage of the concept’s positive feedback.

Codenamed TVS U69, the BMW G 310 R-based fully faired sportsbike was initially destined to launch in early 2017. However, post the expo, the company has set itself a revised target of unveiling the motorcycle in Q4 2016, probably in October. If everything goes as per the new plan, the production version should go on sale in this year’s festive season.

Advancing the deadline by 3-4 months is a daunting task, so TVS’ R&D division has to work round the clock to keep up with the tight schedule. The technical details of the production version are sketchy but it’s safe to assume that the bike will adopt G 310 R’s 313 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled mill.

The concept features USD front fork, clip-on bars, ram-air induction, fins for better cooling, lightweight aluminium components including an aluminium trellis sub-frame. A good number of these features would make it to the production model as well.

The TVS Akula 310 will cater to different set of audience base compared to the BMW G 310 R. It will take on the likes of KTM RC390 and Yamaha R3.
