Scorpio N had received more than 1 lakh bookings in just 30 minutes, and even today, new orders are in excess of 10k per month
While Mahindra was pretty confident about the success of Big Daddy of all SUVs, the response to Scorpio N has been a lot more robust than anticipated. Every OEM wants to see massive bookings, but the flip side is that customers end up with long waiting periods running into several months.
While many customers wait patiently to get delivery, there are the ones who like to share their feelings about the long waiting period. A recent example is that of a Scorpio N customer, Anubhav Chauhan who is celebrating the waiting period by cutting a cake. This is quite a novel way to get the message through.
Celebrating Scorpio N waiting period
Messaging on the cake reveals that the Scorpio N customer has been waiting to get delivery for 9 months. It is likely that the customer will have to wait some more time before he can get his hands on his favourite SUV. The cake has the image of Scorpio N. The messaging on top essentially says that the SUV is worth the wait.
Via the image shared on social media, the Scorpio N customer says that he has never waited so much for anything. In the background, a popular Bollywood song plays, which again is about the torment associated with waiting for something worthwhile.
This is probably the first time such a unique approach has been used to express one’s anguish over waiting period. In most other cases, the response is usually harsher such as blaming the OEM or dealer. Some people even go to the extent of cancelling their bookings. It remains to be seen if the individual’s creative efforts will be rewarded in some way such as reducing the waiting period. It could be possible if there are some cancellations.
Scorpio N waiting period
It is known that Mahindra plants are working at optimal capacity to boost production and reduce waiting period. But despite the best efforts, waiting period for Scorpio N is between 24 weeks and 65 weeks. It depends on the variant and location.
Data from recent months shows that waiting period is highest in case of Z4 variants of Scorpio N at 60 to 65 weeks. In comparison, top-spec Z8L Automatic variant can be delivered relatively faster in 24-26 weeks. All other variants of Scorpio N have a waiting period of more than 50 weeks.
New bookings for Scorpio N continue to pour in. As such, there is unlikely to be any major respite from long waiting period. Scorpio N is popular for various reasons such as its robust street presence, range of hi-tech features, powerful petrol and diesel engines and off-roading capabilities. Scorpio N is also one of the safest SUVs in India. It has 5-star safety rating in Global NCAP crash tests.
