The production version of the Seat Ateca mid-size crossover SUV which was previewed by a concept last year is in attendance at 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The new product which is based on VW Group’s MQB platform will give the Spanish automaker access to the burgeoning SUV segment.
The Ateca follows the company’s traditional design philosophy with trapezoid grille and angular headlights (LED). The sharp bumper hosts a prominent secondary air damn and a silver skid plate. From the side, the car reminds us of the VW Taigun on which its based. The rear fascia gets angular LED taillights that compliment the headlamps, contoured tailgate and silver diffuser.
The modern interior is composed of a signature SEAT steering wheel, driver focused centre console with touchscreen infotainment system, instrument console with MID and dual-tone leather seats. The Seat Ateca measures 4.36 metres and has a boot space of 510 litres (485 litres in AWD variants).
The crossover SUV is equipped with Seat Drive Profile which adjusts various vehicle settings as per the current driving situation, road conditions and personal preferences. Other equipment highlights include Traffic Jam Assist, Emergency Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, Top View, Rear Traffic Alert and so on.
Power comes from a range of turbocharged direct injection petrol and diesel engines which are mated either to a manual or a DSG transmission. The power outputs range from 115 PS to 190 PS.
Sales in Europe will commence shortly.
