Showcased at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show earlier this year as Skoda VisionS Concept, the production-spec prototype of the same was officially showcased a few hours ago as the Skoda A-Plus SUV.
Though camouflaged, the prototype gives a decent enough idea about how the new 7 seater Skoda SUV will look like once it makes global debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show later this year in October. India launch of the new Skoda SUV will take place in 2017.
It is rumoured to be called Skoda Kodiaq upon launch, so named after the grizzly bear from Kodiak Island in Alaska. Based on Skoda’s new design language, Skoda Kodiaq receives a new front grille and streaked back headlamps while a secondary light in recessed area, under the headlights will also be evident.
Interiors could sport a new 12” digital instrument panel and a vertical 8” screen on the central console while higher driving position, better visibility and a host of storage spaces are also confirmed. Rich upholstery will offer a more premium feel to the new Skoda Kodiaq.
Skoda Kodiaq SUV will measure 4.7 meters in length. Engine options on offer will include a mix of powerful and efficient petrol and diesel engine mills. A hybrid motor could also be on offer.
Once launched, it will rival the likes of VW Tiguan, Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Hyundai Santa Fe. Price range is expected to be INR 25-30 lakh.
