Skoda Auto manufactures 1.5 millionth second gen Octavia sedan

Czech car manufacturer Skoda Auto, a completely owned unit of Volkswagen AG, has successfully rolled out 1.5 millionth 2nd gen Octavia sedan from their manufacturing plant earlier this week. Skoda Auto launched 2nd gen Octavia sedan earlier in 2004 and since then, Octavia has played a major role in developing brand Skoda worldwide. As of today, Skoda Auto manufactures 2nd Gen Octavia (Mk2 type) from their plants in India (known as Laura), Russia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.

On achieving this rare feat, Mr Michael Oeljeklaus, Board Member, Logistics and planning, Skoda Auto, said, “For the past 15 years, the Octavia has been the heart of the Skoda brand. The model has left an important mark on the rapid rise of our company since the nineties. In particular, the second generation built since 2004 has meant another leap forward for us.”

Skoda Auto rolled out their 1,500,000th Octavia sedan from their manufacturing unit in Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic, it was a Octavia Greenline variant in white color as shown in the picture above. For Skoda, Octavia is a very important car. Skoda has managed to tear through competition in various markets around the globe with the help of Octavia. Skoda has plans to continue using Octavia as their frontrunner in coming years.

Skoda Octavia 1st gen (Mk1 type) was launched in 1996, which was replaced by currently available Octavia sedan 2nd gen (Mk2 type). Skoda is going to replace this 2nd gen variant of Octavia with an all new 3rd gen Octavia by 2013. Skoda Octavia 3rd Gen is expected to be unveiled next year while it will be launched in major auto markets around the globe by first quarter of 2013.
