Skoda India 2013 Q1 result contributes to 9.7% sales decline in Asia-Pacific region

Continuous sales decline for 2013 Q1, has seen Skoda offer innovative finance schemes to get the buyer back to the dealer. The ongoing Indian auto market sales decline crisis has seen a majority of automakers report sales declines. In fact, the slowdown in Skoda India sales has contributed largely to a downturn in company sales in the Asia Pacific region. Q1 2013 sales were reported at 65,600 vehicles as compared to 72,600 cars sold in 2012 Q1. This equates to 9.7% sales decline for the region.

Resultantly, VW Group India deliveries for the quarter have fallen by 1/4th. The only group contributor to report favourable sales was Audi India with 10% sales growth for 1104 units sold in March 2013. For Q1 2013, Audi India reports 15% sales growth. Volkswagen India delivered 16,600 vehicles for 2013 Q1 in comparison to 20,400 vehicles in Q1 2012 equating to 18.5 sales decline for the period. In March 2013, VW India delivered 6800 cars in comparison to 8400 cars in March 2012 equating to 19.05% sales decline for the month.

SKODA India has been promoting its Rapid sedan rather aggressively with a slew of offers and discounts aimed at prospective customers. Pushing the bar higher, SKODA Finance Private Limited introduced a 100% finance offer for those keen on purchasing the Rapid. The no down payment offer was for a limited period, and ended on 18th April. The financial tool was aimed to make the Rapid more affordable to buyers. Through the scheme, buyers were not burdened with an immediate down payment, and loan benefits were customised.

The SKODA Rapid EMI Holiday offer, another limited period financial tool from Skoda India has been extended till the end of April 2013 and provides another option for those looking to buy a premium sedan. The scheme allows buyers to purchase a Skoda Rapid and start repaying EMI a year after the purchase. Concurrently, existing Skoda owners can visit the nearest SKODA authorized service center for a 20-point complimentary vehicle check-up. Keeping the roads safe isn’t ignored by the automaker and the ongoing ‘If You Drink, We Drive’ program for the duration of IPL 6 in Mumbai returns this weekend . Skoda owners can book a chauffeur for this Sunday’s match between Delhi Daredevils vs Mumbai Indians and be driven home safely.
