Skoda India sales grow during Q2 2015

Skoda India reports sales growth for July 2015 with 1,200 vehicles delivered at 7.4 percent sales increase over July 2014 (1,100 vehicles).

Through Q1 2015, Skoda India sold 4,100 cars to report 12.76 percent decline compared to Q1 2014. January, February, and March sales were reported at 1,400 units (Previous Year 1,600), 1,100 units (PY 1,300), and 1,500 units (PY 1,700) at 12.5%, 15.38%, and 11.76% sales decline.

Things changed in Q2 2015. In June 2015, Skoda India registered sales of 1,300 units as against 1,000 units sold in June 2014; registering a 39% sales increase. In May 2015, Skoda India reported sales of 1,300 vehicles, up 46.2 percent over May 2014 (900 vehicles)

Robust performance in Q2 2015 ensured a green H1 2015 for Skoda India at 4.3 percent growth with 8,000 deliveries (H1 2014: 7700). Q2 sales stood at 3,900 units over 3,600 units sold in Q2 2015.

New Skoda Superb

Skoda’s flagship car, Superb will be launched in India next year. Already spied testing in India, it will be on display at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.

Speaking about global performance in July 2015, Skoda reported sales of 82,800 units. This is exactly same as what the company had reported in the month of July 2014. Considering that the company has launched newer cars, and entered newer markets, this is definitely a disappointing result.

The Czech company posted growth in Western and Central Europe (7.3% and 22.2% respectively), but it was Eastern Europe and China, which resulted in sales decline. The two markets reported sales decline of 32.7% and 12.7% respectively.

Skoda Octavia – 34,200; +15.5 %
Skoda Fabia – 17,900; +44.3 %
Skoda Rapid – 13,800; -29.3 %
Skoda Yeti – 7,900; -3.0 %
Skoda Superb – 4,900; -35.0 %
Skoda Roomster – 800; -67.9 %
Skoda Citigo – only sold in Europe: 3,500; +4.8 %
