As you see in the images here, the old Octavia looks bulkier than the new Octavia. Though the new one looks small in images, it is actually bigger and more spacious. To be precise, the new Octavia is 90 mm longer, 45 mm wider, and 103 kgs lighter. It also features a longer wheelbase, by 108 mm. Overall dimensions of new Octavia stand at 4569 mm long, 1814 mm wide, 1476 mm tall, wheelbase 2688 mm and ground clearance of 155 mm.
Storage capacity on the inside too is increased. Boot offers 590 liters of space, thanks to the new design. When you lower the rear seats, this space is increased to 1580 liters. Depending on the variant, kerb weight ranges from 1260 kgs to 1395 kgs, while gross weight ranges from 1820 kgs to 1915 kgs. On the inside, knee room is increased by 73 mm, head room (rear) increased to 980 mm, front head room by 8 mm, front elbow width by 39 mm, rear elbow width by 26 mm.
New Skoda Octavia is expected to be launched in a price range from INR 14.5 lakhs to 19 lakhs and will be seen in a total of seven exciting color options which include Brilliant Silver, Candy White, Cappuccino Beige, Magic Black, Rio Red, Metal Grey and Race Blue. The engine variants – two petrol and one diesel will include a 1.4 liter TSI Turbo petrol engine and a 1.8 liter Turbo petrol engine which are seen on the Jetta and Laura respectively while a 2.0 TDi Turbo diesel engine also from the Laura will be offered.
Where the 1.4 liter TSI mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox is concerned, the engine will be capable of 140 PS peak power and 250 Nm peak torque. Octavia’s 1.8 liter TSI is mated to a 7 speed auto DSG gearbox and offers 180 PS peak power and 250 Nm peak torque. Skoda Octavia’s 2.0 TDi diesel engine comes with two options with first mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox while the other is mated to a 6 speed auto DSG transmission. This engine is capable of 143 PS peak power and 320 Nm torque.
Safety features on board the new Skoda will include ABS, Lane Assistance, Fatigue Detection System, Adaptive Cruise Control, a total of 9 Airbags, Intelligent Light Assistant and Traffic Signal Recognition.
