Deliveries of the Skoda Octavia RS245 have commenced in India. Limited to just 200 units, this high performance sedan is brought in as Semi Built up Units. It is to be noted here that this Octavia RS245 is based on the older generation, while Skoda recently updated the Octavia to a new generation – which is expected to be launched in India by Diwali 2020.
The keys of the first such unit of the Skoda Octavia RS 245 finished in Race Blue has been handed over to Mr. Rohan Lobo of Goa. Speaking about the other units – 44 units have been allotted to buyers in Bengaluru, Chennai gets 22 units while Pune and Hyderabad receive 20 units each, each of which are set to be delivered soon. Each unit is priced at Rs.36 lakhs, ex-sh.
Skoda Octavia RS245 is presented in colour options of Rallye Green, Race Blue, Corrida Red, Magic Black and Candy White. It gets cosmetic updates such as bigger and sportier 18 inch alloy wheels, 15mm lower ground clearance and sports distinctive RS badges over its exterior.
It is seen with smoked headlamps with LED daytime running lights and a glossy black butterfly grille with vRS badging. Its interiors also get some sporty accents such as seats wrapped in Alcantara leather with red stitching and RS badging, 12 way electronically adjustable seating, a flat bottom steering wheel and ambient lighting in a choice of 10 colours.
Skoda Octavia RS245 also receives a digital instrument display, large 8”touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and smartphone connectivity and distinctive VRS logo on headrests and central console. Interior updates also include a 12.3” Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster, dual zone climate controls, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting and hands free parking.
The new Skoda Octavia RS245 is high on safety features as well. It gets a total of 9 airbags, adaptive front light system, anti lock braking, electronic brake-force distribution, electronic stability control and brake assist along with multi collision brake and hydraulic brake assist.
It is powered by a 2.0 liter direct injection, turbo petrol engine offering 245 hp power at 5,000-6,700 rpm and 370 Nm torque at 1,600-4,300 rpm mated to a 7 speed DSG transmission with VAQ limited slip differential allowing for efficient power delivery. This setup allows for acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.6 seconds and a top speed of 250 kmph.
