Bookings are now open for the new Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo edition which is priced from INR 10.75 lakh, ex-showroom. Launched in a distinctive red exterior paint and designed to pay homage to the company’s racing heritage, Monte Carlo edition gets contrasting black accents with black gloss grille, ORVMs and roof. Smoked headlamps and gloss black spoiler lip, and the model will sit on dual tone, 5 spoke alloy wheels with silver accents.
In keeping with its sporty exteriors, Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo interiors will see some changes. It will get a leather wrapped steering wheel with red accents, black, white and red upholstery, and black finish around AC vents. Sporty aluminum pedals will also be a part of its fresh new interiors. Where infotainment is concerned, Monte Carlo will get touchscreen infotainment system with MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto besides other features.
Engine specifications will be the same as that seen on the Rapid models currently on sale. The 103 bhp 1.6 MPI litre petrol motor and 108 bhp 1.5 litre TDI diesel engine power the Rapid sedan in India. Monte Carlo Editions are based on the top end variants available so transmission will be through the DSG gearbox for diesel, and 6-speed tiptronic transmission for petrol.
Price of petrol manual Monte Carlo Edition is INR 10.75 lakh, price of diesel manual Monte Carlo is INR 12.46 lakh and that of diesel DSG Monte Carlo is INR 13.58 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom. The prices are up to INR 70 k more than respective top-end variants.
Bookings are open at authorized Skoda dealerships in the country and on the Skoda India official website with deliveries scheduled to commence from September 2017. Through Monte Carlo its is this very racing heritage that becomes a part of regular passenger cars.
