Skoda has announced that theywill launch Skoda Rapid Sedan on November 16th. This will be the company’s first contribution in C Segment into the Indian auto market. We have the Skoda Rapid tech specs, an car details from the test drive. Though Rapid is said to be based on a Volkswagen Vento platform it does sport a Fabia front end which makes it different from Vento. The newest sedan from Skoda will be available in Active, Ambition, and Elegance variants. The 5 speed manual transmission engine used is a 16 DOHC transverse in front petrol engine or diesel engine
As per Skoda, Rapid will be priced in close proximity to others in the category though Rapid will be priced lower than VW’s Vento. It is predicted that Rapid will be priced between Nissan Sunny and VW Vento. The ongoing ŠKODA Rapid test drive that was scheduled through this week gives us an insight about what to expect. The comfortable sedan was driven around Jaipur to experience what a long drive would feel like.
The Rapid sedan will have two engines – petrol and diesel. Rapid would have a petrol engine of 1.6 liter, 105 Bhp engine with 160 Nm torque while the diesel would be 1.5 liters with 105 Bhp and 250 Nm torque. Both variants would sport automatic transmission and while the petrol engine would have a six speed dual clutch automatic gearbox it is not sure whether the same would be seen in the diesel variant as well. Rapid will be developed at company’s Chakan unit along with Vento.
