Skoda VisonS SUV concept teased; debut at 2016 Geneva Motor Show

The new Skoda VisonS SUV design concept has been teased through a set of sketches ahead of its scheduled world premiere at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show which is set to open its doors to media on March 1. The concept previews the Czech brand’s upcoming SUV which will be positioned above the Yeti.

The concept is full of Skoda’s signature styling cues in a raised stance. The instantly recognizable grille is flanked by modern LED headlamps. The auxiliary lamps below the main headlamps pay homage to the circular units that defined the previous iteration of the Yeti (current Yeti ditched them).

In profile, the concept features large alloy wheels, neat sheet metal surfaces with a strong crease line, and a gently tapering roof line. The sophisticated rear fascia houses LED taillights, a multi-surface tailgate, wide reflector element and a massive diffuser with twin circular tailpipes.

The Skoda VisonS concept is based on the MQB platform and is expected to derive its powertrain lineup from the new Tiguan. A set of turbocharged TSI petrol and TDI diesel engines would be on offer with a choice of 6-speed manual or new DSG automatic transmissions. Lower variants would adopt FWD configuration while the higher variants would benefit from all-wheel drive system.
