Skoda and Volkswagen, ranked ninth and tenth respectively on the OEM-wise sales charts for December 2025, ended the month with encouraging momentum on a month-on-month (MoM) basis, even as year-on-year (YoY) trends remained mixed. Skoda recorded total sales of 5,567 units in Dec 2025, registering a 22% YoY growth over 4,554 units sold in Dec 2024. MoM performance was largely stable, with sales up marginally by 1.4% from 5,491 units in Nov 2025. Volkswagen, on the other hand, reported 4,256 unit sales in Dec 2025, marking an 11% YoY decline compared to 4,787 units in Dec 2024.
Skoda Sales Breakup – December 2025
Skoda Kylaq continued to be the brand’s top-selling model, clocking 3,668 units in Dec 2025. This marked a 3.7% MoM growth over 3,538 units sold in Nov 2025. As Skoda’s newest compact SUV, Kylaq now accounts for nearly 66% of the brand’s total monthly sales, helping Skoda expand its footprint in the highly competitive sub-4m SUV segment dominated by models like Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet.

Kushaq took second place with 958 units, though it witnessed a 61% YoY decline compared to Dec 2024. MoM sales, however, improved sharply with a 63% jump over Nov 2025 figures, indicating renewed demand toward the end of the year, or it could be because of start of production of facelifted Kushaq. Slavia sedan sales remained subdued at 711 units, reflecting a 62% YoY and 37% MoM decline. With buyer preference shifting away from compact sedans, demand continues to soften. That said, the recently spotted Slavia facelift could help revive interest once launched.
Kodiaq showed steady improvement, selling 230 units in Dec 2025. This translated to an 18.5% YoY increase and a strong 50% MoM growth, highlighting consistent demand for Skoda’s premium 7-seater SUV. Octavia and Superb recorded zero dispatches during the month. However, the upcoming reintroduction of the Octavia RS, with all 100 units booked even before launch, suggests strong latent demand for performance-oriented sedans.
Volkswagen Sales Breakup – December 2025
Volkswagen Virtus emerged as the brand’s best-seller with 2,378 units, registering a 5.4% YoY growth and a 6.9% MoM increase. The midsize sedan now contributes nearly 56% to Volkswagen’s total monthly sales. Taigun followed with 1,778 units, seeing a 24% YoY decline. Despite this, MoM sales surged by an impressive 65%, up from 1,077 units in Nov 2025, indicating improved showroom traction.

Volkswagen Tiguan posted 100 units in Dec 2025. While YoY sales fell sharply by 49%, MoM numbers rose significantly by 163%, up from just 38 units in November, aided by fresh inventory dispatches. Golf recorded no sales during the month. VW India is now getting ready to launch the Tayron R Line flagship SUV this quarter.
Combined Performance – SAVWIPL
Together, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd (SAVWIPL) reported combined sales of 9,823 units in Dec 2025. While this was lower compared to YoY levels, MoM performance remained positive, with total dispatches rising from 8,833 units in Nov 2025. With Kylaq gaining traction for Skoda and Virtus continuing its strong run for Volkswagen, both brands are showing signs of stabilisation, supported by improving MoM trends and upcoming product launches in 2026.
