Already launched in Europe last year, the new Yeti comes in two variants – Outdoor and Style. With the Outdoor variant on display at the Expo, it will be this variant that will be launched in India. With a bolder stance and more kit and features, the new Yeti facelift will come into India with silver skid guards, roof rails and black body cladding adding to its sporty and adventurous appeal.
The Yeti Outdoor will also get under body protection while design modifications will also be seen on its bumpers, front grille and headlights. Interiors do not see much of changes except for some updates on steering wheel, door trims and upholstery. Features would include electrically adjustable driver seat, cruise control and rear view camera in European markets, but it is not sure whether these features will be seen on board the Indian spec Yeti facelift.
Skoda Yeti facelift will be powered by a 2.0 liter four cylinder diesel engine in two states of tune to include 110 PS and 140 PS. The 110 PS tune will be capable of 250 Nm torque while being mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox while the latter will produce 320 Nm torque though also mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox sending power to all four wheels.
Price will be slightly increased as compared to the current variant which starts at about Rs 15.2 lakhs. In that price, India has on offer the new Renault Koleos SUV. But considering that the Mahindra XUV500, Nissan Terrarno and Renault Duster, which come with a bigger road presence, and a lesser price tag, it is not only the Koleos that the Yeti will compete with.
