Buoyed by the tremendous response for its two-wheeler sales, e-commerce giant Snapdeal has launched an exclusive online platform for automobiles that acts as a virtual multi-brand showroom. Called as Snapdeal Motors, the online platform started its operations with existing partners Hero Motocorp and Piaggio but more brands such as Mahindra, Suzuki and Datsun would be coming on board shortly.
Snapdeal Motors offers an easy catalog exploration and discoverability of models from the listed brands. After selecting the desired vehicle model, the customers can choose the dealership based on the proximity and estimate date of delivery. The buyers can also choose the color of the vehicle, pay a nominal booking amount, order test drive at home and avail door step delivery. The platform also provides option of auto financing and Snapdeal claims that loans can be approved within 2 minutes of the vehicle purchase.
Snapdeal was the first e-commerce player to introduce an online store for automobiles in India. The first mover has managed to register an impressive sales of 3 lakh units so far with a 20x growth in the last 12 months! This surge in online purchase of vehicles serve as a clear measure of customers’ readiness to adopt the concept. Moving forward, Snapdeal Motors could effect a change in the way automotive dealerships operate.
