SolarCity and Honda renew partnership with $50 million fund

SolarCity and Honda renew partnershipBoth partners have acquired solar capacity online to offset more than 400 million pounds of CO2 over a 30-year lifecycle. To address air pollution and global climate change, CO2 emissions and particulate emission reduction is planned. SolarCity and Honda  will cover costs of solar equipment and installation so homeowners pay less for solar electricity than electricity from utilities.

In addressing personal future mobility that could largely be powered by renewable energy, both companies are implementing co-marketing programs that encourage owners of  solar powered homes or plug-in electric vehicles to adopt the complementary product.

The companies have also collaborated on advanced projects that demonstrate the full potential of distributed renewables combined with plug-in electric vehicles, including Honda Smart Home US. SolarCity installed the high-efficiency and cost-effective solar system used in this project.

In capitalising on tech, environmental and market opportunities available, the partnership is creating local jobs and helps address air pollution, water pollution and climate change.
