Yet another accident has been reported in the Banjara Hills area of Hyderabad. This time, a speeding Hyundai i20 was completely mangled because of the incident. As per eye-witness, the driver of this Hyundai i20 was speeding on the Bangara Hills road.
At that high speed, the driver (Fasahat Ali), 19 yr old engineering student, decided to overtake the car in front, at the same time cutting lane as well. All this happening at a corner which had a slope. Unable to bring the car in control at that speed, the Hyundai i20 then crashes into the divider, before flipping three times on the road. Luckily, the car did not go over to the other side of the road. If it had managed to go over to the other side, the damage to life and property would have increased manifold.
As per initial reports, there were three people travelling in the car. The driver, an engineering student died on the spot as his head collided with the divider (he was not wearing seat belt). The front passenger has a fractured hand, while the rear passenger escaped with minor injury. All three were of the same college – Muffakhamjah College of Engineering and Technology, and were heading back to the class after having food at a restaurant in Banjara Hills.
Almost everyone has their phone out.The car is registered in the name of Ali’s father. He told cops that Ali had a valid driving license. Cops also stated that initial reports do not suggest that Ali was driving under the influence of alcohol. The accident and CCTV footage point at overspeeding as the culprit.
