With electric two-wheelers set to dominate the scene in the next decade and beyond, we have been witnessing increased activity in this space. The latest entrant in this segment is Li-ions Elektrik Solutions Pvt. Ltd., which has announced launch of its first electric two-wheeler named SPOCK.
A high-speed electric two-wheeler, Spock has been designed as an eco-friendly mobility solution for first and last mile logistics. Spock gets its power from latest generation 2.9 kWh Lithium Ion batteries. Power is supplied to a BLDC Hub motor that generates 1.2 kW of continuous power and 2.1 kW of max power.
Max torque output is 230 Nm. Spock has maximum speed of 45 kmph and its range is 50-130 km per charge. With its 72V 40AH Lithium battery, Spock can easily cover 130 km in economy mode. In power mode, the two-wheeler can go around 100 km in a single charge.
Spock comes with swappable batteries, allowing users to quickly change them or charge them at a charging station. The two-wheeler can be fully charged in just around three hours. Battery has been designed to be long-lasting, supporting a total of 1200 charging cycles.
While most electric two-wheeler companies are targeting the commuter segment, Spock focuses on providing transport solutions that are efficient and environment friendly. Spock is targeting a niche segment and it enjoys the first-mover advantage in this space.
At the launch, Director of Li-ions Elektrik Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Capt. Gurvinder Singh said that Spock is fully indigenous and has been developed under ‘Make in India’ program.
Spock comes in a stylish package, featuring motorcycle-like handlebars and trendy tail lamp with integrated turn indicators. It offers comfortable, ergonomic seating and is equipped with 12-inch wheels shod with tubeless tyres. Spock can easily handle rough roads, as it comes fitted with hydraulic suspension. Another great thing about Spock is that it comes with factory fitted rear cargo box with thermal insulation.
Spock has been launched in the price bracket of Rs 65,000 to Rs. 99,999 (on-road). Bookings are now open and deliveries will commence from July 2019. It rivals electric scooters from Ather, Okinawa, etc.
