No details of the upcoming Midsize Coupe have been announced or when the company plans to introduce it into markets but it is slated to be developed on the Jetta platform for buyers in China. The model was spotted on test without any hint of camouflage where it was noted to possess integrated exhaust pipes, door mounted mirrors, some accents on its bumper and new tail light cluster graphics.
The upcoming midsize coupe will be shorter than the Jetta and wider than the Passat and could come in with a 2.0 liter four cylinder turbocharged engine belting out 220 hp peak power and mated to a dual clutch six speed transmission. With this engine on board the VW’s New Midsize Coupe’s acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph will be accomplished in 6.5 seconds.
Volkswagen’s Midsize coupe is in final stages of development and could be released into markets by the end of this year. Reports also suggest that the Midsize Coupe will be produced in China along with VW’s local joint venture Shanghai VW while for US markets the model will be produced at the company’s Mexico plant from 2016.
