Speaking on the launch of the ‘RX6’ model of the SsangYong Rexton, Vijay Nakra, Vice President, Sales, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “As a customer-centric organization, we continuously take feedback from consumers and update our products to cater to their evolving needs. One such feedback from customers was the need for high end and luxurious features in a manual transmission model. The launch of the Rexton RX6 is a step in this direction and will give driving enthusiasts a manual transmission with 4×4 capabilities, along with high end features.”
Mahindra’s SsangYong Rexton RX6 is definitely a much worthy upgrade to RX5, for a difference of just above a lakh Rupees. This should threaten sales of Ford’s new Endeavour launched recently, since its bit more expensive, and Indian SUV seekers are now used-to Rexton brand in the D2 SUV space.
So, to differentiate between RX5 and RX6, technological features from are passed on from RX7 that includes:
8-way electrically adjustable driver seat with easy access function,
Memory function for seat and Outside Rear View Mirror (ORVM) adjustment with 3 presets,
Auto day/night Inside Rear View Mirror (IRVM),
Electric sunroof with tilt/open function and sun-blind,
Rain sensing wipers, and
Speed sensitive power steering.
Safety features present in RX6 that are excluded in RX5 are:
Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with off switch,
Active rollover protection,
Hill Descent Control (HDC) with on/off switch, and
Color options in RX6 incude Satin White, Volcano Black, Moondust Silver and Opulent Purple.
SsangYong considers launch of RX6 as a strategic move to continue outselling its competitors like Ford Endeavour, Hyundai Santa Fe and Honda CR-V, but will Rexton reach the heights of Toyota Fortuner’s sales in India?
