Ssangyong Tivoli compact SUV has been already launched in global markets. With demand for such SUVs on the rise here in India, Mahindra has plans to launch the Tivoli in India. The first spy shots of SsangYong Tivoli on test in India surfaced last week. It has been spied once again on Indian roads wearing camouflage.
To be manufactured in India, Ssangyong Tivoli compact SUV is the first crossover from SsangYong after Mahindra has taken over the brand. The Tivoli has been inspired from of SsangYong XIV Air and XIV Adventure concepts on display at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. It measures 4,195 mm in length, 1,795 mm width, 1,590 mm in height. Its wheelbase spans 2,600 mm while it has 167 mm of ground clearance and 423 litres of boot volume.
Interiors of the Europe-spec SsangYong Tivoli boast of a host of infotainment and comfort features along with a flat bottom steering wheel and dual zone climate controls. However, it is not yet evident whether these features will make its way into the India spec model. 40 percent of body is made of advanced high strength steel directed at minimizing impact on collision thereby significantly increasing passenger safety.
Ssangyong Tivoli compact SUV is powered by an e-XDi 160 1.6 liter diesel engine which on the Euro spec model is capable of 115 PS peak power and 300 Nm peak torque at 1,500 to 2,500 rpm. The Tivoli is also offered with a 1.6-litre petrol engine offering 126bhp and 160Nm.
As seen on the Mahindra SsangYong Rexton, local assembly of the Tivoli is also planned which will contribute to competitive pricing. Set to take on the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and Maruti S-Cross, SsangYong Tivoli compact SUV could be priced in the INR 8-14 lakh range.
