Steelbird hires former Dainese and AGV Director – To head its ISI helmet design, production

Steelbird Helmets, India have entered into an alliance with internationally renowned Helmet Designer Massimo Varese. Varese, with over 25 years of experience in production will bring in fresh ideas and designs into Steelbird Helmet production, both for the company’s domestic production and for global markets, into with the company is entering for the first time.

Prior to Varese’s new alliance with Steelbird Group India, he has worked with Italian brands such as Dainese S.p.A as R&D Director, at Mavet s.r.l as the company’s CEO and with AVG S.p.A as R&D Director. He has also headed Pastorfrigor S.p.A. as Operation Director; NAVA s.r.l. as Operation Manager; OMEGA s.r.l. as General Manager and Technical Director.

Bringing in his rich and varied experience to Steelbird Helmets India, Varese was welcomed into the company by Mr Rajeev Kapur, MD, Steelbird Group. His appointment comes at a time when the company is undertaking a global journey and will be relying on the expertise of Varese as the company takes on this new venture. At Steelbird India, Varese will be responsible for expansion of the company’s helmet portfolio which will include design, development and production.

Steelbird is the largest producer of ISI helmets in India. And with the recent ruling, where government has banned all other helmets which are not ISI certified, Steelbird could see huge boost in sales. “This is a great opportunity for me to apply my talent and expertise in the industry which is close to my heart. I am extremely excited to join Steelbird Helmet and to serve Asia’s largest helmet industry i.e. India.” said Mr. Massimo Varese.

Steelbird is a renowned helmet manufacturing company in India. The company currently produces 4 million helmets per annum with a target to increase production to 10 million units by the end of 2020. It was in August 2018 that the company introduced SBA-2 double visor helmets in India priced at Rs 3,409. These helmets have visors which are the longest in the helmet industry. They are designed in Italy and offer air ventilation system and circulation allowing for more comfortable riding.

Apart from head pad, and a proper locking system, the SBA-2 helmets also get iridium coating in four colors of gold, blue, rainbow and silver. The outer visor has night vision technology and comes in gold,green and rainbow color while it possesses three layers of protection with mouth guard and chin guard and comply with international standards.
