Nischal Jain, 17 and Vedant Patel, 16, residents of Usmanpura, Ahmedabad were killed in a tragic accident. Both victims were Class XII students of the St. Xavier’s School. Vedant is son of a Director in city based oil company, while Nischal is son of a businessman.

On Saturday night, they had gotten together to study. They were studying at Vedant’s other residence in Thaltej. At about 1-30 AM they decided to go for a drive in Vedant’s dad’s car and get some fresh air.

The Ford Endeavour SUV they were out on an early morning spin met with an accident on the NFD Circle-Vastrapur road on Sunday at 2 am. Nischal was behind the wheel of the SUV and initial investigations indicate that he lost control of the vehicle due to over-speeding after ramming into a tree, which led to this tragic accident.

The SUV skidded out of control and somersaulted at high speed. Chirag Rajani, a resident of Bodakdev was at the accident spot which is close to the Sanjeevani Hospital where his father was admitted. He and his friend had come out of the hospital at 2 am and he saw the SUV go out of control. Both the occupants were thrown out of the vehicle from the front windshield, as they were not wearing seat belts.

One of the teens was found near the vehicle while the other was thrown out and landed over 15 feet from the SUV. Nischal Jain, a resident of Orient Apartments, Usmanpura died on the spot while Vedant Patel, of Dariapur Patel Society, Usmanpura, was taken to a nearby hospital where he died soon after. Watch the CCTV video below.

Police investigations are underway while CCTV footage of the area shows that the SUV was travelling at high speed, skidded and started to turtle. Investigations reveal that the rear left wheel was found to be flat while layers of gravel left after heavy rains in the region could also have led to the SUV skidding and somersaulting out of control.

Even as more investigations will be conducted, parents or guardians of the teens are likely to be booked as both were underage and driving without license.
