After losing to newly launched Hyundai Venue for a few months, Maruti Brezza is back on top for the 2nd consecutive month as the India’s best selling compact SUV. In Oct 2019, a total of 10,227 units of Maruti Brezza were sold.
Though this is a decline of 35% when compared to sales registered by Brezza in Oct 2018, it is still enough to list the Brezza as No 1 sub 4m SUV in India. On the second spot is Hyundai Venue, which has registered sales of 8,576 units. Hyundai Venue sales for Oct 2019 have increased by 8%, as against Sep 2019 sales.
Unlike Brezza, which is only offered with diesel engine, Venue is offered with petrol as well as diesel engine option. But despite this, Venue is having hard time defeating Brezza in sales. What has helped Brezza is huge discount offers. Below is the detailed sales table of sub 4 meter SUVs sold in Oct 2019.
On the 3rd spot is Tata Nexon. After losing to Ford EcoSport and Mahindra XUV300 in the past months, Tata Nexon is back on top. For Oct 2019, sales of Tata Nexon stood at 4,438 units. This is a decline of about 3% when compared to Oct 2018 sales. But is a staggering growth of 56% when compared to sales of Nexon in Sep 2019.
Ford EcoSport continues its good run, despite being the oldest SUV in the lot. For Oct 2019, sales of Ford EcoSport stood at 4,326 units, as against 3,957 units sold in October 2018. Compared to Sep 2019, when sales were at 3,139 units, this is a growth of 37%.
On the 5th spot is Mahindra XUV300. Launched in Feb 2019, Mahindra XUV300 sales were very good in the initial months, even becoming the 2nd best selling SUV in the segment. But since the launch of Hyundai Venue, sales of Mahindra XUV300 have declined. In Oct 2019, sales of XUV300 stood at 3,045 units, which is a 22% growth, when compared to Sep 2019 sales.
On 6th and 7th spot are Honda WRV and Mahindra TUV300. These two compact SUVs registered sales of 1,367 units and 1,246 units. Both registered a YoY decline, but registered a MoM growth. Total sub 4 meter SUV sales for Oct 2019 stood at 33,225 units, which is a 11% growth YoY and a 14% growth MoM.
