Suzuki 150 cc adventure bike in the works – Based on GSX-R150
The motorcycle would derive GSX-R150's 147.3 cc single-cylinder water-cooled engine.
An Indonesian media report suggests that Suzuki is working on a 150 cc off-road motorcycle which would derive its roots from GSX-R150. The new product will take advantage of the growing popularity of compact displacement motorcycles in markets like Indonesia and Thailand.
The upcoming off-roader would adopt GSX-R150‘s 147.3 cc single-cylinder water-cooled motor which generates 19.17 PS at 10,500 rpm and 14 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm on board the fully faired motorcycle. Transmission would be a 6-speed unit. The off-roader is likely to adopt a different state of tune to suit its application.
Salient features on the new Suzuki trail motorcycle would include spoke wheels, dual-purpose tyres, long travel suspension system, front and rear disc brakes, upright riding position, high-mounted exhaust, fully digital instrument console, Suzuki Easy-Start keyless system, LED headlamp, etc.
The new motorcycle will be pitted against the likes of Honda CRF 150 and Kawasaki KLX 150 in markets like Indonesia. Suzuki’s 150 cc portfolio in India currently comprises Gixxer and Gixxer SF motorcycles instead of GSX-R150. So, the new off-roader is not expected to make it to India anytime soon.
Moreover, Hero Impulse 150 cc off-roader proved that prospective customers for such a motorcycle in India prefer more performance (read bigger engine).
