Suzuki Celerio ready to impress Europe with AMT: 2014 Geneva Motor Show


India made Maruti Suzuki Celerio hatchback made its European debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, in both manual and AMT variants. To be sold under the Suzuki nameplate, Celerio will be launched in Europe by end-2014.

Launched in India last month at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, the new Maruti Suzuki Celerio has become of the best selling cars ever since, Clocking about 1,000 bookings a day. Offered with a 998 cc three cylinder petrol engine delivering 68 PS and 90 Nm torque in India, Suzuki Celerio engine specs are yet to be revealed for Europe.

suzuki celerio at 2014 geneva motor show (1)Featuring exactly the same model as on sale in India, Celerio for Europe will be offered with an external plastic body-cladding on the sides, for the AMT verion. Apart from this, there will also be a new interior scheme which is not on offer in India – an all black one. Suzuki also confirmed that the Celerio engine for Europe will be called – K10C. It will be offered in with manual transmission, as well as Automated Manual Transmission. You can read our older post, explaining how the AMT works.

Speaking about the Celerio for Europe, Suzuki says – “The New CELERIO has been developed as an “A+ compact” car – a new type of A-segment vehicle which exceeds its category’s standards. The driver-friendly, compact size has not been compromised as regards best-in-class space and utility and offers a comprehensive package. The lightweight, rigid body is accompanied by class-leading low CO2 emissions delivered by the new powertrain.”
