Last year, Suzuki had revealed a metallic brown exterior paint Ertiga Sport Concept at the 2018 GIIAS. That was a concept model. It was shown to gauge customer interest. The concept got a hands up and is now heading for production. Launch of the same is scheduled for 22nd March 2019. Ahead of that, the car has been officially teased on social media.
Exterior updates are noted in the form of a sportier stance with an aggressive body kit, alloy wheels and smoked headlamps. Based on the new generation Ertiga, which is now on sale in India, the Ertiga GT borrows design cues from the Swift Sport.
The side profile is dominated by large alloys with low profile tyres, side skirting and a roof mounted rear spoiler. The rear end is seen with boomerang shaped tail lamps and bumper extensions with a faux silver skid plate. New Ertiga GT Sport has red accents on the bumper and side skirts. It also has LED DRLs, bumper extensions in the front and attractive paint in Grey, Black and Red scheme enhancing its sportiness.
Interiors have also been revamped with added space and better features. The new Ertiga Sport Concept comes in with a dual tone color scheme, faux wood inserts, automatic climate control and SmartPlay infotainment system. Watch the teaser video below, along with leaked photos.
Suzuki Ertiga GT will be launched in Indonesia first, and then in other countries. It will be powered by a 1.5 liter, 4 cylinder petrol engine. This engine offers 104 bhp power at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm torque at 4,400 rpm mated to a 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic gearbox on board the regular Ertiga. Expect the engine to be tuned for more performance on board the Ertiga GT Sport.
The new Ertiga GT is also expected to be launched in India later this year. It will be sold as a premium 6 seater MPV, that will be retailed via Maruti’s premium dealers – Nexa. Expect launch price in India to be in the range of Rs 10-13 lakhs.
