It is indeed a matter of pride for Suzuki Motorcycles India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL). The made-in-India Suzuki Gixxer 155 cc street figther has been finally launched in Japan. First showcased at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, SMIPL has successfully exported the first batch of 720 units of Gixxer to Japan. The bike is manufactured at the company’s plant in Manesar.
Gixxer has taken the Indian 150-160 cc segment by storm and is expected to do the same on its entry into Japanese market. It sports a 154.9cc, 4 stroke, single cylinder, air cooled engine producing 14.8 PS peak power at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm peak torque at 6,000 rpm mated to a 5 speed manual transmission.
The Gixxer is good for 14.8 PS and is exported to Japan as an entry level bike.It measures 2,050 mm in length, 785 mm in width and stands 1,030 mm tall while it sits on a wheelbase measuring 1,330 mm. The new Suzuki Gixxer 155cc which weighs a total of 135 kg has a ground clearance of 160 mm. Seat height and fuel tank capacity stand at 780 mm and 12 liters respectively.
On board features include telescopic front forks, rear monoshock and fully digital instrument console. The Suzuki Gixxer 155cc which is offered in color options of grey, red, blue, black and white, sits on 17” alloy wheels fitted with 100/80 section tyres upfront and 140/60 section tyres at the rear. It sports a 12V 35/35W halogen headlight and LED tail lamp.

In India, it competes with the Yamaha FZ & FZ-S version 2.0, Bajaj Pulsar 150, Honda CB Trigger and TVS Apache RTR 160.
