The Suzuki Gixxer 250 supersports motorcycle will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 in February before going on sale in the country in March, reports Bikewale. The yet-to-be-unveiled quarter-litre fully faired motorcycle has been in the news for quite some time now but the details are still speculative.
The new offering is aimed at capitalizing on the strong brand name created by the 155 cc street fighter and fully faired (Gixxer SF) siblings. Expected to be underpinned by a beefed up version of the smaller Gixxer’s single downtube frame, the Gixxer 250 would receive a new swing arm, upgraded suspension system and more upmarket tyres. One can expect Suzuki to offer ABS as an option.
The engine is expected to be a single-cylinder liquid-cooled unit displacing around 250 cc. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox, the fuel-injected mill is expected to have its power output in the vicinity of 25-30 PS. The fully faired motorcycle would be in direct contention with the likes of Honda CBR250R, KTM RC200 and Bajaj Pulsar RS200.
The Suzuki Gixxer 250 is more likely to adopt an edgy styling which is inspired by the bigger GSX-R models rather than borrow cues from the Gixxer SF. Expect the motorcycle to be priced between INR 1.75 to 2 lakhs (ex-showroom).
