Booking for Suzuki Gixxer 155 was started in June at advance payment of Rs. 5,000. Inspired by design theme of GSX-R series of sports bikes, Suzuki Gixxer is aimed at young audience setting foot in entry level performance bike segment, and also for those who want to commute on a stylish ride. Gixxer throws out just about the same power and torque that rest of competitors in 150 cc segment do. Suzuki Gixxer houses 155cc air cooled SOHC (Single Over Head Camshaft) engine that delivers 14.14 PS max. power @ 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm peak torque @ 6,000 rpm; mated to 5 speed gearbox. This is not the same engine featured in Suzuki GS150R. Light weight of 135 kg should help in manoeuvring the commuter through traffic. Enhanced performance and fuel efficiency is said to be achieved by Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) technology in Gixxer 155. Dual exhaust muffler on Gixxer looks like it could be fun to rev.
Suzuki Gixxer joins the rear mono shock club, while front fork setup remains regular, not upside down. Ride quality is expected to be pothole friendly. 100/80 – 17 tire on front and 140/60 – 17 tire at rear should help navigate road irregularities smoothly. Combination of mono shock and 140 tire, not to mention light weight, should make cornering with Suzuki Gixxer more engaging. Disc brake is not offered on rear. Colour options of Suzuki Gixxer 155 include white, grey, red, black and blue.
Gixxer 155 will compete with segment rivals such as Yamaha FZ & FZ-S version 2.0, Bajaj Pulsar 150, Honda CB Trigger, TVS Apache RTR 160 and such.
