Suzuki Motorcycle India has launched its Gixxer SF and Gixxer BS6 compliant motorcycles – With this, the engine is tuned to meet required emission regulations
For the manufacturer, the BS6 compliant 155cc Gixxers are the BS6 motorcycles. As it stands, BSVI compliancy is mandated from April 1, 2020. Once the deadline has been reached, dealers are no longer permitted to sell BSIV vehicles. Keeping the BSIV to BSVI transition in mind, manufacturers have adjusted processes and production to ensure dealerships are not left with sitting ducks at the end of the stipulated deadline.
The now launched BS6 compliant motorcycles were showcased at Auto Expo 2020 last month. 2020 Gixxer SF and Gixxer BS6 are powered by a 155cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder fuel injection, air-cooled SOHC engine with SEP technology. The engine returns 13.6 PS power @ 8,000 rpm, and 13.8 Nm torque @ 6,000rpm.

Suzuki Gixxer range is optimised for superior performance, high fuel efficiency and a comfy riding experience. The bikes already feature ABS. Koichiro Hirao, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India said, “We feel proud to announce the launch of our BS6 compliant GIXXER series, ahead of the regulation deadline.”
Suzuki Motorcycle India has been defying the odds in recent months and has managed to post sales growth barring January 2020. This comes at a time when the Indian auto industry is at their wits end to post any sort of sales growth with most manufacturers being in the red for the current FY.
In the backdrop of this contained period, SMILP has plans to grow at a robust pace with its Gixxer brand that’s been designed keeping in mind Indian customers. In its cleaner avatar, Gixxer doesn’t compromise on overall power and performance.
In February 2020, Suzuki India reported 58,644 units sold as compared to 57,174 units sold in February 2019. Total (Domestic plus Exports) sales stood at 3.5 percent growth as compared to 65,630 units sold in February 2019. YTD FY20 cumulative sales stand at 7,49,755 units.
Last month, the manufacturer began sales of its BS6 compliant Burgman Street. The now BS6 compliant Suzuki GIXXER series is equipped with FI tech, and features a LED headlamp and tail lamp, dual-muffler for exhaust outlet, and 6-spoke alloy wheels.
BS6 compliant Gixxer is available in Glass Sparkle Black Metallic Sonic Silver/Glass Sparkle Black Metallic Triton Blue/Glass Sparkle Black colours at a price of Rs 1,11,900 (ex-sh, Delhi. Gixxer SF is available in Metallic Sonic Silver/Glass Sparkle Black Glass Sparkle Black colours at a price of Rs 1,21,900. Gixxer SF MotoGP is priced at Rs 1,22,900 and is available in Metallic Triton Blue. All prices are ex-Delhi.
