First launched back in 2014, Gixxer is the flagship made-in-India 150 cc motorcycle from the company. Available only with front disc brake till date, at the ‘Gixxer Day’ today in Delhi, Suzuki Motorcycles India launched the much awaited rear disc brake variants of their Gixxer and Gixxer SF motorcycles.
Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida earlier this year, Suzuki Gixxer rear disc variant is priced from INR 79,726 while the Gixxer SF rear disc variant is priced from INR 87,343; Gixxer SF MotoGP livery with rear disc will cost you INR 88,857. All prices above are ex-showroom, New Delhi.
From now on, Suzuki Gixxer SF will only be available with rear disc brake variant while the Gixxer will be on offer with or without a rear disc. Apart from a rear disc, the Gixxer series also gets new colours and body graphics. New colour on offer with the Gixxer rear disc brake variant is a dual-tone shade of Lush Green with Glass Sparkle Black while that on the Gixxer SF are mono-tone colours of Candy Antares Red and Glass Sparkle Black Dual Tone.
The rear disc variants of new Suzuki Gixxer and Gixxer SF come with the same 155 cc single cylinder which powered the existing Gixxer range till date. This 4 stroke air cooled engine delivers max power of 14.8 PS @ 8000rpm and peak torque of 14 Nm @ 6000rpm.
Leaving good news aside, the sad news is that the FI variant was not launched today. Suzuki Motorcycles India officials did not say anything officially about when will they launch Gixxer and Gixxer SF FI variants. But, they did say that the too will be launched soon as the products are in the pipeline for India. For now, Gixxer twins continue with the carburetor setup.
