Suzuki GSX-R150 specs revealed – Lighter, powerful than Yamaha R15
Last month, a new fully-faired 150 cc variant of Suzuki Gixxer was spied in Indonesia. This is the new GSX-R150, which is also believed to be facelift of the Gixxer SF on sale in India.
Now ahead of official launch, which will be taking place in the coming days, specs of the bike have been revealed. As per this new info, Suzuki’s new 150 cc is more powerful than the Yamaha R15.
New Suzuki GSX-R150 will be powered by a single cylinder 150 cc FI engine. This engine pumps out 19.17 hp @ 10,500 rpm and 14 Nm of torque @ 9,000 rpm. This means that the new Suzuki is more powerful than the Yamaha R15, which delivers 16.8 Bhp @ 8,500 rpm and 15 Nm @ 7,500 rpm. Both machines are mated to a 6 speed gearbox. On top of this, the new Suzuki 150 is also lighter than the Yamaha R15 by a good 5 kgs, tipping the scales at 131 kgs.
In India, the Gixxer twins are powered by the same 154.9 cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine which produces 14.8 PS max power @ 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm peak torque @ 6,000 rpm, and mated to 5-speed gearbox.
Dimensions of the bike are – 2,020mm in length, 700mm in width, 1,075mm in height & a wheelbase of 1,300mm. Some of the highlights include, LED lights, digital instrument panel, front & rear discs, optional ABS, etc.
Speaking about design, the new GSX-R150 is inspired from the big bikes in the company line-up, and looks very much similar to the recently unveiled GSX-R125 and GSX-R250. More details will be revealed once the bike makes official debut at the 2016 EICMA later this month.
