Two new concept cars, Suzuki iM-4 SUV and iK-2 hatchback will be officially launched at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show tomorrow. Though these are concept cars, launch of the production variants of these cars are expected to take place in the coming months.
Suzuki iK-2 will be a compact hatchback developed with the theme of “Harmonized Force”. It is the same car which has been known in India as the YRA (codename). Maruti’s manesar plant is expected to be the export hub for this new premium hatchback. The model will sport a large radiator grille and swept back headlights. Suzuki iK-2 will closely resemble the Swift and will be about 90 kgs lighter than the Swift. It will be powered by a new 1.0 liter turbocharged petrol engine which will be made in India.
A diesel variant will also be on offer, which will mostly be in the form of Fiat sourced 1.3l MultiJet diesel, in a higher state of tune as compared to Swift. Features on offer include cruise control, keyless entry, push button start and a minimum of two airbags. It will also have a 2 DIN music system and electrically adjustable and folding door ORVMs.
Speaking about the Suzuki iM-4 SUV, it will be a compact 4×4. Featuring distinctive styling, the LED headlights are now revealed in the leaked image above. This one too is expected to come in the same set of engines as seen on board the iK-2 hatchback. Suzuki iM-4 SUV will also give us a preview to Maruti YBA SUV (based on existing Swift platform), which is expected to be launched at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.
With two new compact cars for the global market, Suzuki Motors plans on increasing their sales. These new cars will also help them enter newer markets. More details, and official images will be revealed from the floor in Geneva tomorrow.
