Suzuki had the Access scooter at the top of domestic sales charts while in global markets it was the Gixxer that commanded the most attention

Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL), has seen a YoY de-growth in total sales (domestic + exports) in Feb 2023. The company sold a total of 70,625 units in Feb 2023, down from 72,200 units sold in Feb 2023.

Suzuki, the 6th best-selling two wheeler maker in India, saw its domestic sales dip 10.49 percent on a YoY basis. Sales which had stood at 58,603 units in Feb 2022 dipped 6,148 units to 52,455 units in Feb 2023.

It was the Suzuki Access scooter that was a top seller in domestic markets. It was also the 3rd best-selling scooter in India in Feb 2023 after the Activa and Jupiter. Access sales improved 7.15 percent YoY to 40,194 units, from 37,512 units sold in Feb 2022. The Access commands a 76.63 percent share.

At No. 2 was Burgman with a 23.82 percent YoY de-growth. Sales dipped to 6,579 units in the past month, down from 8,636 units sold in Feb 2022. It was followed by the Avenis with a 64.24 percent YoY de-growth down to 3,713 units sold last month, from 10,382 units sold in Feb 2022. This was a 6,669 unit volume de-growth.

Gixxer sales also fell 2.56 percent to 1,698 units in Feb 2023 but it was the4 Suzuki Hayabusa that reported a 183.33 percent YoY growth to 34 units from just 12 units sold in Feb 2022. There were also 8 units of the V-Strom 650 sold last month along with 1 unit of the Katana.

Suzuki 2W Exports Feb 2023

The company performed better in terms of exports with a 33.63 percent YoY growth. Exports which had stood at 13,597 units in Feb 2022 improved to 18,170 units in Feb 2023 relating to a 4,573 unit volume growth.

Suzuki Gixxer stood at a No.1 position on this list with 5,422 units shipped in the past month, down 23.67 percent from 7,103 units sold in Feb 2022. It was followed by the Avenis of which 4,260 units made their way to global markets while there was Suzuki Gixxer 250 with 3,112 units shipped last month, a YoY growth of 10.83 percent from 2,808 units exported in Feb 2022.

The export list also included Suzuki Access scooter which has seen outstanding growth of 442.36 percent to 2,484 units exported in Feb 2023, from 458 units shipped in Feb 2022. Burgman exports dipped by 30.73 percent to 2,214 units last month from 3,196 units sold in Feb 2022. There were also 526 units of Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 and 120 units of the Suzuki Hayate along with 32 units of Intruder exported in Feb 2023.

The company has been in the news in recent weeks following the launch of its new apparel and merchandise range which draws inspiration from the Suzuki Hayabusa. Suzuki also updated the Gixxer lineup that received feature updates in the form of Suzuki Ride Connect with a Bluetooth-enabled digital console. The Gixxer series also saw a price revision. Suzuki has introduced E20 fuel-compliant Access 125, Avenis and Burgman Street.
