Suzuki Swift Range Extender hybrid and G70 to be unveiled during Geneva Motor Show (Photos & Video)

In their effort to launch new cars with better fuel efficiency, Suzuki Motors will unveil hybrid variant of their most popular hatchback – Swift Range Extender. Powered by a lithium-ion battery which has the capacity to drive you around for a total of 30 kms on a single full charge, Swift Range Extender’s 660 cc 3 cylinder petrol engine will help generate more power when you want a performance drive.

Suzuki Swift Range Extended was on display during last year’s Geneva Motor Show as well. But this year’s model is far better than the one displayed last year. For eg; driving range on pure electric is doubled, improved 660 cc petrol engine, new battery is cheaper, less heavy, uses lesser resources and needs lesser time to get charged.

Another small car from Suzuki which will be unveiled at Geneva Motor Show is the G70. Suzuki plans on launching production variant of G70 globally across all auto markets in the near future. Weighing just 730 kgs, Suzuki G70 concept will be powered by 800 cc turbocharged petrol engine. Transmission will be taken care by a CVT transmission returning a mileage of 26.6 kmpl and low CO2 emissions of 70 gms per km.

Press Release

(01/02/12 ) — At the 82nd Geneva Motor Show next month; Suzuki Motor Corporation will display the G70 Concept which demonstrates new vision for a compact car incorporating minimised weight and elaborated dynamics. The G70 weighs just 730kg and has a drag coefficient at least 10 per cent lower than that of a current Suzuki ‘A’ segment model.

As a direct result of overall weight reduction and the use of a highly efficient petrol engine, CO2 emissions are as low as 70g/km (measured in the European Driving Cycle)

Also on display will be the Swift Range Extender, Suzuki’s latest development in hybrid vehicle technology. The Swift Range Extender was first shown at the Geneva Show in 2010 and, since then, has undergone further development which has resulted in a 100 per cent improvement in battery driving range to 30km.

Swift Range Extender utilises a generator and a highly efficient 660cc three cylinder petrol engine to power it. Compared with a conventional Electric Vehicle that depends entirely on battery power, the Range Extender has a more compact lithium-ion battery that’s quicker to charge, weighs less, uses fewer resources and also costs less.

Suzuki Motor Corporation will hold a press conference on the 6th March at 9.45am and are located on stand 4251 in Hall 4.
